It's 30 minutes before 10 o'clock we had 7 tables Yesterday. The two of them were having nearly 300 dhs bill. We were just three. One was in the counter as a cashier and barista as well, another two in dine in and kitchen. There's no dishwasher. We were quite busy. Some customers were sitting outside. They came for breakfast at this time.
Every morning, We need little more time for preparation ; displaying items, cleaning the store, having kitchen preparation especially. However we have to be ready in case sudden customers coming. So, sometimes it's not easy but it's really pleasant if each of us plays the job role well as a team work. It's really easy if each of us knows the job priority, we can do the job in effective ways. So everything becomes managable and easier. Easy or hard way is only about practicing more to set "easy" or "hard" in our mind. Today, it's quite different. I felt a bit tired whereas not as busy as yesterday, and we were five ( including the Indian supervisor ). Eventhough the delivery was very late, but the customers' order was available left over items. So, it's not the reason to be panic. Again, It's just about practicing more to set "easy" in our mind...
For me, Yesterday's job was like playing a game. Well, a busy time is always challenging for me. The customers came step by step. Some of them were still waiting some other friends, I was busy taking order in another table. When I was punching the orders another customers came, I was not supposed to be distructed by them just to focus a minute on the items I was punching in the micros. Of course I just greeted them just to welcome them while doing it. As finishing punching in immediate way I gave the menu. I left them for just a moment while letting them having a look the menu. it's time to prepare some order and the cutleries preparation. I just estimated the time preparing all. I keep watching the new customers having a look the menu while waiting for the drinks ready made by a barista. Until all were done, there was no any problems. Everything was managable eventhough the Indian supervisor didn't take a part in it.
I tell you guys, when you know already all the jobs, firstly set an easy mind and get used to work with the priority. The second, when you are in hectic situation and nobody could possibly help you, don't get panic just focus on your easy mind and the priority habit. Trust me, the improvement will come along with you, and you are in a good progress. this is what we call as a self-job satisfaction. You are in a progress no matter nobody surrounding you never gives an appreciation. Again, however you are in a progress and it's all about your self investation.
At about one, the second shift came. We had some tables. I was taking care my tables while another staffs were taking care their tables. I looked at one of my colleague served strawberry lemonade. I listened a bit a small talk between the server and the customer. She asked to the customer if the lemonade is ok. " It was great" the customer said, I heard. The server was happy then she left them. Then, I was standing close to them while doing something. I listened again they were talking about the lemonade was sour. As an effort to satisfy the customers, I got close to them then asked if they needed something. I little talked about why the lemonade was sour because of the strawbery flavour mixed lemon. I just also told about what lemonade I like most is mint flavour, because it's not so sour. They seemed understood. one of them asked if we put sugar syrup in it. I said yes, but the quantity of the strawberry and lemon reduces the sweet taste in it. They seemed understood. Then I suggested if they liked I can take sugar syrup to be little sweet taste. They agreed. With my pleasure, I took some sugar syrup and gave to them. Then I left them. a couple of time after that I came back just wondered how's the latest taste after they put sugar syrup. They said it's lovely, thank you. You know, if customer is happy, we are.
The story began. My colleague came to me talking in an anger. I was shocked. What's wrong with her? and what I did to her ? She said, I was not supposed to do that because it's her table. Really? I knew it's her table but I didn't understand. While she's talking to me, I was wondering, if there's something wrong with her mind. She's really negative to see what I did. did she feel insulted by me ? in which way? I tried to explain, but she just didn't give any chance to me to talk but accused. Of course, she just created a nonsense drama. Competition? rivality? or what? and for what ? as long as you stay with egoism and self centredness, you'll never succeed and be happy in your life. Just remain your positive. if you are good, no body can turn you into bad. Don't waste your time and energy just to produce negative to others. Focus to your self, and you'll be "somebody" . .
" God's love is expressed through good works, which He explains with a simple rule : Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can. "
( John Wesley, Founder the methodist church in the eighteenth century in Soult Wales )
