Yesterday was Monday. The store was not busy. As on Mondays, we always have Mirdiff ladies' meeting. The member joining the program are at least 20 people everyweek. I'm the one who take care of their table recently. it had two new members. One of them used to visit our store. long time she didn't come. I don't know her name. She looks like Lebanese. It's half Lebanese half European, I guess. Another one is an Indian lady. She came in half abaya--without scarf. Nevertheless, in the middle of the program, she took off her abaya which is inside she wore sporty appearance. She said to some ladies I've just jogged.
While serving them I listened some of the conversation, especially the new members. As they said, they just bored doing daily activities as a routine everyday; yoga, shopping, taking children to school, and so on..and so on. I got a bit of point of an Indian lady's problem. She's fed up with the people in Dubai ; unfriendly, plastic, and so on...and so on .. I just smiled to my self. It doesn't sound strange to me.
After half-two hours the program was over. One by one left except three ladies. the two are new ones and another one was who came late. The Indian looked really tired and unhappy. Another two ladies just was listening what she was complaining about her life. I don't know what they were having in their mind as they were listening the lady.
Week by week I often see the new faces joining the program. Madam Melly, the leader is a nice smart one who's very talkative. I see the positive thing of this kind of community. As human is a social creature, we need each other to talk to, listen to, and so on..and so on. Especially in Dubai, to join the Mirdiff Ladies' program is important to survive in which people here are very individualistic.
Mirdiff is a very interesting place to live in Dubai; quiet, safe, and beautiful area. It's one of the luxurious places in which people live here are middle class. However, over 50 % people I know, they keep complaining about their life. Some of them seem lonely whereas they are sufficient in finance. Finance is always the top list as people's life purpose, but they become trapped to be controlled by it. They think it will make them happy, but they stay lonely.
In the afternoon, I got a customer sitting outside with a sporty clothes. She waved her hand and I came immediately. She ordered large hot chocolate to go, and tuna sandwich for dine in. As it's hot sandwich, it takes little longer. about 8 minutes. Suddenly, after 5 minutes She came in and asked for the bill and her sandwich as well. She said " I want my sandwich now ! ". I said : "it's coming soon, Madam..! She said : " If I said now, it means NOW ! I dont have time even a second ". She looked restless and really in hurry. whereas 5 minutes ago, she was really enjoying her time while talking on the phone regarding renting a house. I listened a little bit while serving hot chocolate. I came to the kitchen in a rush, I checked the kitchen staff in almost done preparing the sandwich, when I looked around the lady was behind the kitchen door staring at us. The sandwich presentation missing, as she took it in hurry.
It's not the first time I had hurry customers. They are hungry, they don't have time, they eat in a hurry while driving going to work, have a meeting, an appointment with clients, and so on..so on... I can't imagine how she can't wait even 2 minutes? or a minute? Why people are so hurry doing their activities? they can do fast, and even they should be, but not to be controlled by the situation. Don't they realize that it's too tired being hurry most of the time ?
